Marcus Thuram is reportedly set to remain at Borussia Monchengladbach till the end of the season.
According to footmercato, Chelsea were keen on signing the player but will now have to wait until summer.
The report states:
“According to our information, Marcus Thuram has chosen to say no to Chelsea’s offensives and, therefore, to end the season with Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he arrived in 2019 from Guingamp. ”
“It will be next June, therefore, as a free player.”
“This should attract a large number of candidates for his signature. Chelsea, who are looking for a new major number 9, will try their luck again, but the competition will be more substantial.”
“Marcus Thuram has yet to decide where his next destination will be.”
He will be looking to earn a considerable signing-on fee next summer.
Manchester United were linked with the Frenchman this January and could revive their interest in the summer.
The Frenchman is a versatile forward and could add quality to United’s attack.
Thuram has scored 10 goals in 16 games for Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga. He has had an exceptional season.
He would be an exciting pick, given he is a free agent.
Chelsea will still be looking to swoop in and finalise the deal quickly.
