Bayern Munich are reportedly prepared to sell long-term Manchester United target Kingsley Coman in the upcoming transfer window.
United’s interest in Coman can be dated as far back as two years ago when Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Red Devils were keen on getting a deal for him over the line.
Needless to say, a transfer never materialised and the player ended up staying at Bayern. However, links to him never went entirely cold.
A year later, it was relayed that United were plotting to offer Coman a lucrative financial package to convince him to ditch the Allianz Arena in favour of an Old Trafford switch. On yet another occasion, the 20-time English champions’ efforts to add the Frenchman to their ranks were thwarted.
Two months ago, a report covered by The Peoples Person noted that Coman may finally be open to moving to England, with Spain also a viable option for him.
A fresh update on the situation has now been provided by the reliable Florian Plettenberg and it could put United firmly in the picture for Coman once again.
He’s also thought to be on Barcelona’s radar, mostly due to the fact that his former manager at Bayern – Hansi Flick – is now in the Camp Nou dugout. However, as per Plettenberg, the Blaugrana are not strong contenders to land Coman.
The Sky Germany journalist wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “FC Bayern is open to sell the 27 y/o in summer as reported yesterday. The club will listen to suitable offers. It’s decided.”
“Understand the interest from FC Barcelona is not concrete at this stage and he’s not a priority transfer for Hansi Flick at the moment. Wait and see what will happen with Raphinha…”
“Coman’s contract valid until 2027. One of the top earners with more than €15m gross/year. ”

Considering that United are set to dip into the market for attacking reinforcements and especially a right-winger, a swoop for Coman would appeal – at least on paper. He’s an elite ball progressor, is incredibly fast, has a penchant for taking defenders on and boasts an amazing physique.
However, pursuing the France international would certainly go against INEOS’ mantra of recruiting younger players who can be nurtured to become world-class superstars.
In addition to this, Bayern are likely to demand a hefty fee to part with him, not to mention that the winger himself would command extremely high wages.
