Real Betis defender Juan Miranda has indicated his desire to remain at his current club even as he continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United.
United are expected to dip into the market to sign a new left-back this summer.
All through the just-concluded 2023/24 season that part of the pitch was a huge problem for the team, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia missing large parts of the campaign due to injuries.
In fact, Malacia did not feature for the Red Devils at all while Shaw only made 15 appearances across all competitions.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Miranda is on United’s wishlist of left-back targets alongside other names such as Melvin Bard, Bradley Locko and Rayan Ait-Nouri.
It was stated that United have made checks on Miranda in recent months with a view to possibly swoop in for him.
The 24-year-old made 25 La Liga appearances last term and in that period, managed just one goal. He also helped Betis keep eight clean sheets.
Miranda’s main point of attraction is that he’s out of contract this summer, meaning he can be obtained on a free. For United – who are operating on a tight budget and are wary of breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) – the prospect of landing someone like Miranda without necessarily having to pay a transfer fee appeals.
However, in a blow to the Red Devils, the player has declared his wish to remain in Andalusia.
He told El Chiringuito, “Would I like to renew with Betis? Yes, man.”
He added, “We’ll see what happens.”

Miranda is also attracting interest from Germany and Italy, with Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan thought to be admirers of his.
It remains to be seen whether United test his resolve with an offer if the 20-time English champions were to step up their efforts to secure his services.
