Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho extended his rich vein of form as Borussia Dortmund brushed aside Darmstadt 4-0 in their final Bundesliga clash of the season.
Sancho and Dortmund have ended their 2023/24 domestic campaign in fifth place, two points adrift of RB Leipzig in fourth and 16 above Eintracht Frankfurt.
Ian Maatsen and Marco Reus – who was making his final league appearance for Dortmund today – scored within the opening 45 minutes to give the Signal Iduna Park outfit a solid lead heading into the break.
Dortmund controlled proceedings and eventually added two more goals through Julian Brandt and Donyell Malen to completely put the game to bed.
While he didn’t score and as a result won’t get much of the plaudits for the strong finish to the season, Sancho gave a good account of himself and continued to show Dortmund fans why he could hold the key to the side winning the Champions League final against Real Madrid next month.
The United loanee spent 73 minutes on the pitch and he certainly didn’t waste it. He capped his performance with an assist.
Sancho registered one shot, but it was off-target and didn’t trouble Marcel Schuhen in the Darmstadt net.
He embarked on four dribbles and completed three of them. Sancho successfully delivered 29 of the 33 passes he attempted, managing a pass completion rate of 88%. Five of his passes were key passes.
Unfortunately for Sancho, he was not very effective with his crossing. All four of his crossing efforts failed to find their intended target.
The England international created one chance.
He successfully won three of the six ground duels he delved into. Sancho did not contest any challenge in the air.

That Sancho continues to perform well will come as music to the ears of United as it gives the club an advantage during potential negotiations with Dortmund for his sale.
United’s hand is strengthened and they can ask for a favourable transfer fee.
