The real details of Manchester United’s contract offer to Marcus Rashford have been revealed by club sources, according to a new report.
Rashford is on hot form this season and has been one of the standout stars of the Premier League.
His contract at United ends in June 2024 and there is a queue of suitors waiting to see whether he agrees a deal with his boyhood club or not.
Reports had been doing the rounds this week of demands of a £500,000 per week salary, but Rashford himself moved to quickly dismiss them as nonsense.
However, Teamtalk claims to have inside information from club sources as to the real state of play in the discussions.
“Manchester United are not worried about Marcus Rashford’s new deal and club insiders have confirmed to TEAMtalk that they are willing to make him the highest paid outfield player at the club,” the outlet reports.
“TEAMtalk understands and has been told that a new deal is set to be in excess of £300,000-a-week, which would see him become the highest paid outfield player.
“United are hoping that Rashford’s new deal will be finalised before the end of the season.”
It was reported last summer that PSG had offered Rashford €400,000 per week (around £350,000) to move to the Parc des Princes.
Whether that offer is still on the table is unknown as the French outfit turn their attentions to Victor Osimhen of Napoli.
On the other hand, United’s reported offer is already well in excess of the reported £200,000 per week cap that club owners were reported to be trying to introduce.
It will also mean that Rashford will become the highest paid athlete at the club when David de Gea’s contract expires in June.
Even if De Gea signs a new contract, it has been widely reported that this will be at a significantly reduced rate, leaving the Wythenshawe man in top spot on the salary charts.
