Manchester United have been handed a fresh blow in the race to sign Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix.
The Portuguese international enjoyed a bit of form during the World Cup, managing to assist two goals while scoring one.
The Peoples Person recently reported that Manchester United had joined the race for the transfer of Felix.
However, with a hefty price tag at around €100 million, a January move to the clubs seems increasingly unlikely.
The 23-year-old has fallen out with his manager Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid, hence his current club form.
He will be looking to move out of the club as soon as possible and will be hoping that a club can come calling during the next month.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, through Get Football News France, Felix wants to play for Paris Saint-Germain after fresh links to the club have emerged in recent days.
This comes after Atletico’s CEO openly admitted that the player can leave the club in the January transfer market.
He joined the Spanish side in 2019 for a fee of €127m but hasn’t been able to show his true ability since arriving.
The forward has played 129 matches in all competitions, scoring 33 goals for the club.
Di Marzio states in an interview that PSG is Felix’s preferred destination if a move can materialize in January.
“I don’t think that Félix will go to Arsenal because he wants to play for PSG. PSG would be the obvious option should he leave Atletico,” the journalist said.
It is not clear which direction United will take in the January transfer window, but a forward seems the most likely option considering Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure.
Cody Gakpo and Memphis Depay have both been linked to the club in the past six months.
A right-back could also be a priority depending on the futures of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams.
