Manchester United need reinforcements across the park based on the evidence this season has thrown up but with rising PSR concerns, the club will first need to focus on raising capital through sales.
That is exactly why Sir Jim Ratcliffe is planning a large-scale summer exodus with big-name players such as Casemiro, and Marcus Rashford not safe from the cull.
Players who are currently out on loan are mostly expected to be moved on and that includes Champions League finallist Jadon Sancho.
The Englishman inspired Borussia Dortmund to a 3-0 aggregate win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday.
Sancho’s season recap
His exploits in the first-leg had attracted plenty of praise with United expected to earn another windfall due to the clauses inserted into the loan deal.
The 24-year-old could have been tearing it up at Old Trafford instead of Signal Iduna Park but ended up having a major fall-out with Erik ten Hag who complained about his below-par training displays.
The forward responded in the worst way possible, accusing the manager of making him a scapegoat on social media while his camp alleged that the coach preferred certain other players over the England international.
Sancho was subsequently banished and loaned out due to his refusal to apologise and whatever be the future of Ten Hag, the former Manchester City academy graduate will be sold by the 20-time English league champions.
So far, Dortmund have been trying to lowball United into selling the player on the cheap but INEOS are standing firm on their valuation of £50 million.
Recommended to Real
His displays have alerted Real Madrid with Football365 relaying that both the legendary Zinedine Zidane and his national teammate Jude Bellingham have “recommended” his name to club president Florentino Perez.
Both feel Sancho belongs on the big stage and has the ability to “make a career wearing the white jersey”. The Frenchman wanted to sign the winger back when he was the Real Madrid manager as well.
But it seems Perez “does not seem to agree very much” and Los Blancos will not go after the English star with the club currently focussed on signing PSG’s Kylian Mbappe.
One thing is for sure, INEOS should make sure they earn as much as possible from a sale considering the player’s potential and his status as a European finalist.
