The Chelsea fanbase appears to be very split right now. Many of them are calling for the manager to be sacked, whilst many are asking for patience.
The bottom line is, Chelsea have only won two league games in thirteen, and that really isn’t good enough. But on the other end of that, you simply must take into account where the club are at right now on the whole, all the new signings that have only just joined the squad, key players still out injured, and the ones who have came back not yet being fully match fit.
There are many factors that come in to play here and it’s never straightforward. But the arguments and anger amongst Chelsea fans is rife, and it creates for a bit of a gloomy feel still.
Chelsea need to win games, there is no two ways about it. Graham Potter will know this, and the players will know this. They have a fresh chance to boost themselves this week in the Champions League up against Borussia Dortmund.
Away from the PL, with no real expectations, they have a chance to play a team who are unlikely to sit back and defend in a low block, like the majority of the teams we have been struggling against in the league recently. This could allow players such as Mykhailo Mudryk, Enzo Fernandez, and Joao Felix to thrive in more space in attacking areas.
Dortmund will be far from an easy opposition, but if they go to Germany and get a win, it’ll be a huge boost for confidence going forward and for the league games again. It’s rather pressure-free, even though it’s the last chance we have to win silverware this season. Not one person is expecting us to win the UCL this season, so it’s a good place to be going into this game.
