Todd Boehly has been one of the busiest people in football this summer, and it’s not even a debate.
Not only did he spend a lot of money to buy a football club, he then went and spent even more on buying new players for that football club, and then he went even further and made many changes at the club from the top to the bottom, including a managerial change.
He made himself the club chaimain, sporting director, as well as the joint-owner and continued to work every hour of every day in order to attempt to get his newly acquired business in the best possible place for the season ahead.
Some might be criticial about the way Todd Boehly has come in and made all these changes, others not so much. But for me, I feel like Chelsea are in very safe hands right now regardless of any of this.
However, it is also now very clear that Boehly is readying his moment to take a step back from many of the operational tasks that he has taken charge of. This is due to the fast-moving situation of a recruitment team being set up.
They already have recruitment analyst Kyle Macaulay who arrived with Graham Potter, and now they are advancing to bring in a director of football.
But it looks like it will be a recruitment team coming in, a whole department, rather than just one or two new faces. And this is clear intent that Boehly will be taking a step back from the very busy summer he has had and putting his trust in carefully selected experts.
The passion we have seen from him so far though supporting Chelsea, you know that he will always be there or there abouts, overseeing things and making sure the club becomes a success, which is the ultimate goal for our new owners.
