Chelsea are on the hunt for a new head coach after parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday.

The former Tottenham boss left by mutual consent after just one full season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

He guided the Blues back into Europe after they finished 12th in the Premier League last season.

Only Manchester City and Arsenal have gained more points than Chelsea in 2024.

Despite the progress, the West London club must now start again and there are some early favourites for who might take over in the capital.

We take a look at some of the names in the frame to become Todd Boehly’s next appointment.

    Kiernan McKenna

Ipswich Town will be back in the Premier League for the first time in 22 years next season and it is largely thanks to head coach Kieran McKenna.

The 38-year-old has impressed on a tight budget with the Tractor Boys and deploys attacking football at Portman Road.

Chelsea are reportedly looking for a young and exciting manager and McKenna certainly fits that criteria.

    Thomas Tuchel

Going in the other direction, the Blues may look to someone with a bit more experience.

Thomas Tuchel was loved by Chelsea fans and he famously won the Champions League with them in 2021.

With the German leaving Bayern Munich this summer, it may be tempting to lure him back to the Bridge where he can continue his work.

    Roberto De Zerbi

After the shock announcement that he would be leaving Brighton, Roberto De Zerbi may fancy himself to make the step up to Chelsea.

Reports suggest the Italian is also being considered by Bayern Munich, so the Blues may have to act quickly if they are to snap him up.

It would mean hiring another ex-Brighton manager after snatching Graham Potter as Pochettino’s predecessor.

    Hansi Flick

It seemed as though Hansi Flick was on the verge of becoming Tuchel’s replacement at Bayern but the 59-year-old remains for hire.

He was sacked by Germany in 2023 but previously managed in Munich, winning a treble that included the Bundesliga and Champions League.

His appointment would be unexpected but an interesting direction for Boehly to take.

    Thomas Frank

Shopping in the Premier League may be the way forward and Thomas Frank recently admitted he wants to win titles during his career.

It is unlikely that will happen at Brentford so moving to Chelsea would be a logical step in matching his ambitions.

The Danish tactician has done incredibly well since returning the Bees to the top flight and he is reportedly of interest to Manchester United as well.

🚨🔵 Chelsea are looking for dynamic manager, several candidates are being discussed internally with owners and directors involved.

    Vincent Kompany

He may not have been able to keep Burnley up, but there is no denying Vincent Kompany had the Clarets playing eye-catching football at times.

The Belgian smashed it in the Championship two seasons ago, winning the league comfortably before struggling with his resources in this year’s Premier League.

Manchester City’s former captain has proved his quality but he is another one being monitored by Bayern Munich.

    Jose Mourinho

We couldn’t leave Jose Mourinho out of the picture for the Chelsea job, could we?

The legendary manager is still out of work and despite being linked with a move to Turkey, he could end up back on his old stomping ground.

Mourinho remains a legendary figure at Chelsea and would likely be welcomed back with open arms.

    Ruben Amorim

    Finally, we have Ruben Amorim.

The 39-year-old looked like he was heading to Liverpool to replace Jurgen Klopp but a deal never materialised.

His reputation is growing after guiding Sporting to their first league title in 19 years in Portugal.
