Anti Glazer supporters group the 1958 have shared details online of the latest protest due to take place at Old Trafford before the Newcastle game this coming Sunday (16th October).

The details, posted on the the group’s Twitter feed, featured a written statement with details of the protests along with a rallying call for all United fans: ‘Protest details for Newcastle, If ever we need United fans to unite and protest against the Glazers. It’s now! We must turn up in our thousands. We have a buyer. Let’s make them sell. Consistency and patience is key. They will go! Share and retweet. Keep Believing!’

The protest group statement shared on the post reads: ‘We march in protest and will continue to do so. The club are pressuring the match-going fan base, which is a process to cleanse season ticket holders at Old Trafford and remove legacy supporters. Another tactic to control and dampen the protests. If you love the club, make sure our disgust at this ownership is not watered down by these despicable acts.

‘It’s down to us the United fan base to keep the pressure on! Protests work, you have heard this from the horse’s mouth. This needs to be every United fan. Don’t leave it for others to do. We stay United fighting for a common goal we all believe in.’

This is the latest in a wave of recent protests against the current United owners the Glazer family and follows in the wake of Lancashire born billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s comments on buying United at a Financial Time’s conference earlier in the week.

The businessman stated that he had met Joel and Avram Glazer in the summer who informed him that the club was not for sale. Despite this, Ratcliffe still harbours a vested interest in buying United.

The 1958 have been at the forefront of the anti-Glazer movement, with several protests already having taken place across multiple home games including the Liverpool game where 15,000 people were estimated to have joined.

This latest planned protest seems to follow the schedule of previous home games, with a march planned at 1pm towards Old Trafford, although care has been taken to mention that the use of flares or smoke bombs could lead to a stadium ban if caught.

Whilst the Glazers have not shown any great desire to sell the club so far, it is clear that the pressure is building on the owners in part down to these protests.

With The 1958 also utilising other methods such as sponsorship boycotts, the pressure is being ramped up with every passing week.

More information is displayed on the 1958’s webpage.
