Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been advised to snub Manchester United and prioritise Manchester City should the player be faced with such a dilemma.
Former Italy and Inter Milan defender-turned-pundit Giuseppe Bergomi has pleaded with the player not to opt for United, but to instead consider City, where he would have a Kevin de Bruyne-like effect.
Bergomi told LazioNews24, “But why don’t the top clubs come to take him (Milinkovic-Savic)?”
“That’s what I’m wondering.
“He has to choose the right team for his qualities.
“If you send him to Manchester United it’s not good – if he goes to City he does like De Bruyne.”
The Red Devils have been linked with Savic on multiple occasions, including in the recently closed summer transfer window.
A move for the Lazio midfielder has never materialized with most dismissing links to him as mostly agent-driven.
The 27-year-old is currently in his seventh season with the Biancocelesti and is under contract until 2024 when his terms expire.
It does not reflect well on United that even overseas players are being advised to snub them in favour of their rivals. This latest news just goes to highlight the extent of the club’s fall from grace.
The Serbian has been in excellent form this season. He has featured on 10 occasions for Lazio in all competitions this season.
He currently has four goals and five assists to his name in just 751 minutes of football. TransferMarkt values him at €60m.
