Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay will be unavailable for selection as the Red Devils clash against Sevilla in the return leg of the Europa League quarter-final.
The first game ended in a 2-2 draw after own goals by Harry Maguire and Tyrell Malacia cancelled out a first-half brace from Marcel Sabitzer.
United will now need to beat Jose Luis Mendilibar’s men on their own patch so as to proceed to the semis.
Amid an injury crisis, Ten Hag will have to make do without McTominay. United confirmed on the club’s official website, ” Scott McTominay is also missing, with the midfielder remaining in Manchester to continue his recovery from an injury.”
“He is expected to be out of action for a few more games.”
United’s travelling party consisted of David de Gea, Jack Butland and Radek Vitek.
In defence, United will be able to choose from a pool of Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Both Shaw and Malacia missed the win against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Malacia had a sore knee and so did not feature.
Shaw was awfully missed during the first Sevilla game at Old Trafford and his return is a huge boost for Ten Hag and the team.
The midfielders that travelled to Spain are Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Fred, Zidane Iqbal and Marcel Sabitzer. Like Malacia and Shaw, Sabitzer was absent against Forest over the weekend.
The Austrian sustained a groin injury minutes before kick-off and had to be replaced by Christian Eriksen who was excellent.
As a result of suspension, Bruno Fernandes did not make the trip with the team.
Antony, Anthony Elanga, Anthony Martial, Facundo Pellistri, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Wout Weghorst are the forwards who travelled.
Rashford’s return is a huge lift for the team. Rashford is the club’s top scorer this season and will undoubtedly be the key man in attack at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium if deemed fit enough to start.
