Chelsea have set their sights on Atalanta striker and Manchester United target Rasmus Hojlund.
Last week, The Peoples Person reported that alongside Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kolo Muani, Hojlund is a legitimate striker alternative for Erik ten Hag in the event that the United boss fails in his efforts to land Harry Kane.
Kane is United’s number one priority but if it proves unfeasible to negotiate with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, the Red Devils will not be dragged into a protracted battle, hence the links to Hojlund and Muani.
The Danish forward is a self-confessed United supporter and has in the past relayed that a switch to Old Trafford would be the stuff of dreams for him.
His resolve to realise this dream may soon be tested if a report by The Daily Mail is anything to go by.
The outlet reports that Chelsea have Hojlund on their radar and are big admirers of the 20-year-old.
“Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund could be on his way to Stamford Bridge in the summer after Chelsea ramped up their interest in the Danish international,” The Mail reports.
“Chelsea are hot on the youngster’s trail and club executives invited Atalanta chairman Antonio Percassi to their recent Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund.
“The attacker’s availability was among the topics of conversation as Chelsea look to pursue their interest in Hojlund who has so far scored eight goals in all competitions for the Serie A outfit.”
The Mail adds that Atalanta are demanding a fee of £60 million for the electric Hojlund, who only joined their ranks last summer.
On top of the player being a Red Devils fan, problems and turmoil at Stamford Bridge could also work in United’s favour.
Simon Jones points out that Chelsea’s pursuit of Hojlund could be severely hampered by Graham Potter’s dismissal, even with Todd Boehly keen on carrying on with his big spending when the transfer window opens.
On top of Chelsea, United will also have to ward off interest from Real Madrid and Arsenal.
