AC Milan forward and Manchester United target Rafael Leao is set to sign a new contract to keep him at the San Siro for a bit longer.
Leao has been linked to the Red Devils on a number of occasions in the past with Erik ten Hag keen on signing a forward this summer.
The Portuguese winger has been in talks with the Rossoneri over fresh terms and according to the reliable Gianluca Di Marzio, an agreement is now in place.
Di Marzio spoke to Sky Sports and discussed Leao’s future as well as the player’s chances of featuring in the semi-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday night against Inter Milan.
Leao is currently injured and is facing a race against time to be match-fit for the crunch all-Italian tie.
As per Di Marzio, a decision on whether Leao plays will be made in the morning.
The forward received offers from English clubs last summer. Chelsea made a proposal in a solid attempt to secure Leao’s services.
Di Marzio went on to add that the transfer market will have to “wait a little longer” for Leao as the player is likely to put pen to paper on a new deal in the “next few days.”
Di Marzio remarked that the deal will be signed either on Thursday or Friday. Both the player and the club want to continue together and extend their fruitful relationship.
Leao will sign a four-year deal.
For United, attention should now shift to other targets with Leao’s uncertain future now sorted.
Other names on the club’s transfer list include Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen. The Peoples Person covered a report which detailed United’s attempts at stepping up their efforts to sign Goncalo Ramos.
