Manchester United scraped a lucky late goal against Cypriot minnows Omnia tonight to win despite a dreadful performance at Old Trafford. Here are our player ratings for the game:
(A score of 6 is around average.)
David de Gea 6.5 – Did we actually see that in the first half? De Gea outside his area calmly collecting a through ball and distributing it? Wow.
Diogo Dalot 4 – Not positive enough against such lowly opposition. Has played a lot of games though …
Victor Lindelof 6.5 – Did OK.
Lisandro Martinez 6 – A few mistakes. Has played a lot of games though …
Tyrell Malacia 4 – Energetic, but didn’t produce anything going forward and was rightly subbed.
Casemiro 8 – Easily United’s best player again. Unlucky to hit the crossbar with a first half scorcher, and narrowly missed with a header.
Fred 4 – Pointless for the most part, like a spaniel chasing a frisbee.
Antony 4 – Well-marked and had no solution to it. Poor performance.
Bruno Fernandes 3.5 – Wasteful and none of the usual counterbalancing magic. How wasn’t he subbed?
Marcus Rashford 2 – Lots of chances but squandered them. A really awful performance from Rashford.
Cristiano Ronaldo 4 – Really should be doing better against this class of opponent.
Substitutes
Jadon Sancho 5 – Seemed to start brightly for five minutes or so then degenerated into the stew of inadequacy.
Luke Shaw 5 – See Sancho.
Christian Eriksen 5 – Made no impact.
Scott McTominay 7.5 – Scored the humiliation-saving goal. Thank you Scott.
