Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has attempted to explain the reason behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s behaviour against Tottenham.
In the dying embers of the match, while United were in cruise control and seeing the game off, Ronaldo stormed down the tunnel into the changing rooms.
Ronaldo resorted to the act, seemingly in protest against Erik ten Hag after the manager snubbed him and failed to bring him on during the game.
With just minutes on the clock, Ten Hag opted to bring on Anthony Elanga and Christian Eriksen over the 37-year-old.
Speaking via Amazon Prime Video Sport, Evra said that the five-time Ballon D’or winner could have gone for treatment.
“Maybe Cristiano said to Ten Hag I need to do some treatment or whatever, so I’ll go inside.”
“I want to focus more on the performance of United. We need to stop talking every day about Cristiano.”
Patrice Evra: “Everyone is different. I want to stay on United performance, not to protect Cristiano Ronaldo. Maybe he needed some treatment? I don’t want to find an excuse. We have to stop talking every day about Ronaldo.” [@primevideosport] #mufc

Evra’s sentiments were echoed by Arsenal legend Thiery Henry who agreed that Ronaldo may have taken the headline from the brilliant win and placed it all on himself.
Beyond Ronaldo, Evra lauded the Red Devils for their gallant showing against The Lily Whites.
In classic Evra fashion, he remarked, “I don’t know if he will be able to use his hands after this game. It must be so warm right now.”
The Lloris comment is about the multiple numbers of saves the French shot-stopper had to make to keep the score decent.
On his man-of-the-match, Evra gave this accolade to Diogo Dalot.
