Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has suffered a disappointing season so far, struggling to replicate his fine showings from the previous campaign.
The 26-year-old was expected to build on his 30-goal season last time out but has suffered badly from start to finish this year.
In his defence, he hasn’t been the only member of Erik ten Hag’s squad that has looked short on quality and confidence, in what has been a shoddy season for the majority of players at the club.
United are well off the pace for the top four in the Premier League, let alone making a challenge for the title which will be won by either Manchester City, Liverpool or Arsenal.
An early Champions League exit also served as a huge disappointment to the club and question marks have now been raised about the quality of the players in the first-team, including Rashford.
However, as reported by the Daily Mail, United’s winger does feature in one of the top 10 spots for the fastest players in this year’s competition.
Rashford’s speed of 35.7km/h leaves him fourth on the list of speedsters behind Luis Openda of RB Leipzig and PSG’s Kylian Mbappe who sit third and second, respectively.
Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi tops the charts with a blistering speed of 36.3km/h.
Achraf Hakimi (5th), Daizen Maeda (6th), Mohamed Simakan (7th), Erling Haaland (8th), Alphonso Davies (9th) and Sandro Tonali make up the top 10, as the competition enters the quarter-final stage.
Perhaps surprisingly, United striker Rasmus Hojlund doesn’t make the list despite the club reporting him to have clocked over the quickest speed in league games.
Hojlund is the one United player who can justify his disappointment in not reaching the knock-out phases after banging in five goals in the six group games.
However, defensive fragility put pay to United getting out of what was a favourable-looking group on paper and things haven’t really improved since the pre-Christmas exit.
United do have the chance to salvage something from a poor season with the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry on the horizon representing a great chance of a return to Wembley at the end of May.
Should United get through the tie against the Sky Blues, it will mean back-to-back finals for Ten Hag, who will also be aware another shock defeat would likely signal the end of his time at Old Trafford.
