Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has heaped praise on two of his teammates for their stellar performance in the Carabao Cup win against Burnley.
Rashford lauded Christian Eriksen and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The pair combined brilliantly for United’s opening goal of the match. Bruno Fernandes lofted the ball to Wan-Bissaka who acrobatically got to it and crossed it to Eriksen. The Dane arrived late inside the box and got on the end of it to fire into the back of the net.
Rashford himself got a goal in the second half to ensure United proceed to the quarter-finals.
Speaking after the game, Rashford, who won the man-of-the-match award, said, “Yeah, massively important player [Wan-Bissaka].
“We all know about his defensive qualities and, for me, he just needs confidence to be pushed to go forward because when he goes forward he can create goalscoring opportunities for us and today he had no right to get that ball but he got there anyway.
“It was a good ball across and it looks like a simple goal in the end but it’s not, it’s the movement and the timing from all three players. Christian arriving late into the box and getting a tap-in. It was a great goal and Azza played a massive part.”
On his reasoning behind his superbly worked goal, Rashford remarked that he was dribbling and wanted one of the Burnley defenders to come out of position so that he can play the ball to Antony.
He however lifted his head and saw an opening. The Englishman made no mistake with his opportunity as he sent the ball into the opposite corner of the goal.
The 25-year-old stated his intention to continue firing for the team.
Rashford said that he’s raring to go especially after his limited participation for England in what was a disappointing tournament in the end for the Three Lions.
