Manchester United are considering three potential players in a swap deal with Paris Saint-Germain that would see Jadon Sancho head to the French club.
Last season, Sancho’s fallout with Man United manager Erik ten Hag resulted in the winger being loaned out in January to Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the season.
Despite their long-winded feud and Sancho’s refusal to apologise to his manager, it appeared as if the pair had patched things up once Sancho returned to Old Trafford this summer.
“As we said, we draw the line. Manchester United need good players and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we move on.” Ten Hag stated, confirming that their differences had been put aside.
But even with Sancho returning to the fold and participating in United’s pre-season game against Arsenal, it appears that the 24 year old’s career at United may still be coming to an end.
Over the past few days, rumours of PSG’s interest in Sancho have been bubbling to the surface, with FC Barcelona also reportedly keen on the Englishman.
Yesterday, The Peoples Person explained that PSG reached an “agreement in principle” with Sancho over personal terms, adding that United are seeking a fee in the region of €60 million.
This morning, however, CaughtOffside reported that a swap deal may be on the table, with United looking at three PSG players whom they could look to bring to Old Trafford as part of one such agreement.
One candidate is central midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who United have been strongly linked with this transfer window. While United’s bid for the player was reportedly rejected by PSG, it’s being said that Ten Hag’s side are confident that the Parisians will drop their asking price as the transfer window wears on, by which time they’re hopeful of a deal being struck.
Another option allegedly being assessed is right-back Nordi Mukiele. With Aaron Wan-Bissaka reportedly in the process of completing a move to West Ham United, Ten Hag may want to sign a new right-back who can share duties with Diogo Dalot.
Finally, there’s centre-back Milan Skriniar, who is capable of playing at right back as well. He could prove to be a versatile option who can provide ample coverage to United’s defence in the case of injuries.
With United well-stocked with wingers, it makes sense for Ten Hag to exchange Sancho for a holding mid or defender as these are problem areas where reinforcements are needed. Given the age of Jonny Evans and centre-mids Christian Eriksen and Casemiro, it’s only a matter of time before United require the services of younger alternatives.
