Manchester United are reportedly expected to submit a third offer to Everton for defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
It was recently reported that United lodged a second offer in the region of £45million, plus £5million in add-ons for Branthwaite but this was swiftly rejected by Everton, who want significantly more money for their star.
Last month, United also saw an opening £35million bid for the England international rebuffed as the Toffees hold out for £70million.
Sean Dyche’s side’s valuation of Branthwaite is informed by the belief that he falls in the same price bracket as the likes of Harry Maguire, Wesley Fofana and Josko Gvardioal, all who clinched moves to top-six Premier League clubs for sums in excess of £75million over the past five years.
According to The Times, it seems that United have not been put off by the latest setback suffered and remain steadfast in their resolve to bring Branthwaite to Old Trafford this summer.
“Manchester United are expected to return with a third bid for Jarrad Branthwaite after Everton rejected a second offer of £45million, plus £5million in add-ons.”
“However, their second refusal to the bid tabled by United on Monday night is not expected to deter a further approach.”
There’s already an agreement in place between United and Branthwaite’s camp over personal terms.
Amidst all this, it seems that United are currently pursuing up to three top centre-back targets.
Talks between the Red Devils and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich remain ongoing for Matthijs de Ligt. The agent of the Dutchman is working hard to get a deal over the line for her client, who has made it clear that his wish is to reunite with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
