Manchester United have seemingly ended their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.
In recent days, the Red Devils have been strongly linked with a move for the Europa League winner, with Erik ten Hag keen on another goalkeeper to not only deputise David de Gea but also to compete with him.
The Telegraph’s James Ducker reports “Manchester United have cooled their interest in Kevin Trapp after baulking at Eintracht Frankfurt’s €25 million (£21m) asking price for the Germany goalkeeper.”
“Senior sources at United have indicated that Frankfurt’s valuation of the 32-year-old – who has two years left on his contract – presents too big an obstacle as things stand.”
Trapp speaking about his future on Monday, “As I said during my first spell at Frankfurt, it’s also nice when rumours like this come out. It’s a nice acknowledgement but I can’t say anything about it.”
According to the reliable Florian Plettenberg, the 20-time English champions currently have their sights trained on another shot-stopper although this alternative has not been named.
“We‘ve been told that Manchester United made an official offer to another goalkeeper in the last hours.”
“Frankfurt bosses expect him [Trapp} to stay.”
“They [Frankfurt] don’t search a new No. 1.”
“Their plan: Long-term contract, more salary, position in the club after his career.”

It will be interesting to see which player United have chosen to go with if Plettenberg is to be believed.
Should United remain in the hunt for a goalkeeper in the Bundesliga, a player to keep an eye on is Manuel Riemann who plays for Bochum.
The outstanding keeper fits the profile of what Ten Hag prefers – good with his feet, excellent ball distribution, able to claim crosses and brilliant at shot-stopping.
Various names have in been mentioned in the past, including Daniel Bachmann, Karl Darlow, Alex McCarthy and Odysseas Vlachodimos.
