Manchester United is one of a number of clubs in England and Europe that have met with the representatives of 18-year-old wonderkid Victor Roque.
The Athletico Paranaense forward is on the radar of top teams both in the Premier League and abroad.
According to Globo, Roque’s representatives, led by his father Juvenal Ferreira, are in Europe where they are calling in on various elite clubs to hold exploratory talks over the player’s future.
Over the weekend, Roque’s entourage visited Barcelona at the Blaugrana’s invitation to learn more about the Spanish giant’s project and to see their facilities.
Globo details that in previous days, Roque’s representatives established contacts with officials at clubs like West Ham, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, United, Arsenal and Aston Villa.
“There is still no official proposal to the player’s entourage or Athletico about Vitor Roque,” the outlet reports.
“However, two teams from England and Barcelona themselves have already promised to submit official proposals to try to get the boy out of Athletico in the mid-season international window.”
Both Athletico Paranaense and people acting on Roque’s behalf are eager that the imminent transfer operation becomes one of the biggest in Brazilian football.
There is a sense that he will not be let go for anything less than his €42m release clause.
Roque was born in Timoteo in Brazil and from his early days at Cruzeiro, the same club Ronaldo Nazario and former United star Kleberson hailed from, he quickly rose through the ranks to where he is today.
In his home country, Roque is widely considered to be the “next Ronaldo” – a reference to the level of excitement he is currently generating, similar to the waves the Brazilian idol created during his heyday.
It’s easy to see why almost every top club is hot on Roque’s trail. With United on the hunt for a striker, Roque is one to watch out for.
