Lisandro Martinez is quickly becoming a fan favourite at Old Trafford.
The Argentine has already endeared himself to supporters with his aggression and tenacity which have resulted in two Man of The Match performances thus far.
It is now clear why Ajax were reluctant to let the star defender join the Red Devils. Erik ten Hag has certainly recruited an excellent defender.
De Telegraaf’s Mike Verweij has revealed in a report the extent to which Martinez had to go to to force through a reunion with his former manager.
So hellbent was the 24-year-old on a move to England that he was willing to burn bridges with the Dutch champions.
Verweij says in his article, “Earlier Lisandro Martinez was already nose-to-nose with (Gerry) Hamstra in the Johan Cruijff Arena to make his transfer to Manchester United a success.
🚨🚨🌕| JUST IN: When Hamstra didn’t want to let Lisandro Martínez go, Martínez told him ‘you are a f*cking nobody’ and you are only here because Overmars had to go. A couple of days later the deal to #mufc was done. [@MikeVerweij, @TheEuropeanLad]

“Hamstra was told by Martinez that he is ‘fucking nobody’.”
Martinez also told him that, “He is alone because of the forced departure of Marc Overmars.”
“The deal was finalized a few days later.”
This latest news about Martinez comes after another player, Mohammed Kudus went on strike in a similar fashion to Martinez and Antony as he tries to force a move to Everton.
Kudus is desperate for first-team minutes and he thinks such a strike might help him after what he saw happen with the two South Americans.
Ajax fans will surely not appreciate Martinez’s comments to Hamstra, but United fans will be delighted to know how much the move meant to the Argentine.
