Leeds boss Marsch provides double injury update after Crystal Palace

Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch has, on Friday, provided an injury update on his squad, on the back of the club’s latest pre-season outing.

The Whites, of course, were back in action a short time ago.

Amid the ongoing efforts of Marsch’s troops to gear up for the fast-approaching new campaign, Leeds made the trip to Perth, Australia, for a friendly meeting with Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.

When all was said and done at the Optus Stadium, the two sides were forced to settle for a share of the spoils, owing to a 1-1 stalemate.

This came as Rodrigo’s opener early in the 2nd-half was cancelled out by a strike on the part of Jean-Philippe Mateta.

As alluded to above, though, upon the final whistle sounding on Friday, the scoreline was in fact the least of Leeds’ concerns.

Instead, the Yorkshire outfit, plagued by fitness woes throughout the 2021/22 campaign, were forced to face up to a fresh pair of problems on the personnel front.

First came summer signing Luis Sinisterra, who hobbled out of proceedings early on owing to what appeared to be a muscular issue.

Speaking to the media on the back of the action coming to a close in Perth, Jesse Marsch, in turn, provided the following update on his gifted attacker:

“He had a little hamstring injury. We’re hopeful it’s not too much, too long, too severe. Any time we have a hamstring injury I am totally dissatisfied because I think that’s reflective of everything that we do with them physically.”

Sinisterra was then joined in departing the action prematurely by Adam Forshaw, on the back of a challenge with goalscorer Mateta.

Marsch, though, is hopeful that the midfielder’s latest problem will not prove to be a serious one:

“Adam Forshaw had Mateta kind of lean on him a little bit & tweaked his knee. We’re hopeful (like with Sinisterra) that that one’s not so bad but we will get more information on it in the next days.”
