Jesper Lindstrom ‘so hungry’ after Napoli loan transfer

New Everton signing Jesper Lindstrom has said he will bring speed to the Premier League and has the “trust” of manager Sean Dyche after the attacking midfielder joined the Toffees on loan for 2024/25.

Denmark attacking midfielder Lindstrom is Everton’s fourth signing of the summer, joining Tim Iroegbunam, Iliman Ndiaye and fellow loan player Jack Harrison at Goodison Park.

“This is a big club with big history, a good stadium and, as I’ve seen, very good facilities as well,” Lindstrom told EvertonTV. “I’m very, very happy to be here and I feel like this is a good fit.”

    Everton: Lindstrom ‘wants to deliver’

“I actually heard of Everton’s interest a while ago. I’ve spoken to the manager. It sounds as though he likes the way I play football and I can be a good fit for the team with my speed, so now I want to deliver.

“I know he trusts me and that’s another reason I’m here – because I need that trust from the coach and I need trust from my team-mates. I’m ready to show them I can help.”

Dyche said the 24-year-old, who has previously played for Brondby and Eintracht Frankfurt, would help Everton add “more productivity to our attack”.

    Jesper Lindstrom stats

Taastrup-born Lindstrom made his debut for boyhood club Brondby as an 18-year-old, producing 11 goals and 11 assists in 41 Danish Superliga appearances before joining Frankfurt in July 2021.

He scored 12 times and set up nine goals across two seasons for the Bundesliga side, helping them win the 2021/22 Uefa Europa League and opening his Champions League account the following season.

Napoli paid £25 million for Lindstrom in August 2023, and his loan spell will cost Everton around £2.5 million, according to Football Italia, which says they can make the move permanent for an additional outlay of around £18.6m.

Gli Azzurri started Lindstrom in only three matches last season. He was part of Denmark’s 2022 Fifa World Cup squad and has one goal in 16 caps, the last of which came in 2023.

“I’m a fast player with a good technique and a good shot, so I think I can add speed on the counter-attacks and I can play in several positions – as a number 10, as a winger,” said Lindstrom.

“I will give my best. I like to score goals, provide assists and create chances. I hope I can do that here – I know I can do that here.

“I know how the team plays and I have some very good team-mates. I am ready to give everything. I am 100 per cent ready. I’m so hungry.

“This pre-season feels long because I just want to play football, I just want to be out there in the stadium. Last year was a tough year for me but I’m so happy to be here now and I can’t wait to get started.”
