Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho was Borussia Dortmund’s shining light in their Bundesliga defeat against Stuttgart at Signal Iduna Park.
It was the club’s fifth top-flight loss of the campaign.
Sancho started on the right wing of a 4-3-3 formation, in an attacking line also consisting of Niclas Fullkrug and Karim Adeyemi.
Dortmund fell to a 64th-minute goal from Stuttgart talisman Serhou Guirassy – a player United have been previously linked to. The result has left Edin Terzić’s men in fifth position in the league and with qualification for the Champions League hanging in the balance.
Sancho played all 90 minutes.
The England international registered one shot on target that required Stuttgart goalkeeper Alexander Nübel to swing into immediate action.
The United loanee embarked on three dribbles and completed all of them. He registered 73 touches of the ball.
Sancho attempted to deliver 50 passes to his Dortmund teammates. 42 of these were successful and he managed a pass completion rate of 84%.
Seven of Sancho’s passes were key passes – an incredible show of his creative ability.
He put in 11 crosses and pinged two long balls. Six of Sancho’s crosses and one of his long balls found their intended target.
The player created two big chances.
Sancho was also solid defensively and executed his defensive responsibilities well. He delved into seven ground duels and won five of them. He did not win the one aerial challenge he was required to contest.
The Dortmund n.o 10 drew in one foul from Stuttgart. He made one interception and one tackle.
