‘Fans should be really excited’ Arsenal star Emile Smith-Rowe runs rule over new teammates Jesus and Vieira

Arsenal starlet Emile Smith-Rowe has warned that Arsenal fans ‘should be really excited’ about new signing Fabio Vieira, and has hailed ‘fantastic’ Gabriel Jesus ahead of the new Premier League season.

The Gunners signed Vieira from FC Porto in a deal that caught everyone by surprise, with the 22-year-old penning a five-year deal in north London.

And, speaking to the London Evening Standard, Smith-Rowe warned that despite the surprise around the signing, Vieira is not one to take lightly.

“He’s very similar [to Bernardo Silva],” the Englishman explained. “He’s a very good passer of the ball, his left foot is very good and he likes to create goals and score them himself.

“I’ve already played against him at international level, so I can’t speak highly enough of him, and the fans should be really excited”, he added. “At the Euro Under-21s, they [Portugal] beat us 2-0 and he was unbelievable in that game.”

Official: Arsenal have completed the signing of Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira from FC Porto on a long-term contract, becoming the club’s second summer signing.

    Jesus subject to high praise

Meanwhile, Smith-Rowe was equally effusive in his praise of new striker Gabriel Jesus, who has netted three times in two pre-season friendlies so far.

The 22-year-old revealed that the Brazilian has settled in perfectly, and it already feels as though he has been a part of the squad for some time despite only arriving this summer.

“He’s been fantastic since he came in, it feels like he’s been here for a couple of years”, Smith-Rowe explained.

“Everyone knows how good he is and we can’t wait to get started with him. Man City are a big club and they’ve won a lot recently. “It would be good if he could bring that [winning] mentality and help us out.”
