Manchester United face Omonia Nicosia in Matchday four of the Europa League Group Stage, on Thursday evening.
United welcome the Cypriot side to Old Trafford having come from behind to beat them in the reverse fixture last week.
A double from Marcus Rashford and a fine Anthony Martial strike spared United’s blushes in Cyprus, after Omonia took a shock lead into half time.
Unfortunately, Erik ten Hag will not be able to call on Martial this week. The Frenchman limped off at Goodison Park on Sunday with an injury to his back.
Martial’s stop-start season is causing frustration to Ten Hag, who has been without the forward for the majority of the season.
As reported in The Sun, Martial joins Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Axel Tuanzebe, Brandon Williams, Donny van de Beek and Phil Jones who are all currently in the treatment room and will play no part in Thursday’s game.
Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to lead the line, as he has done in the first three Europa League games.
The Portuguese superstar replaced Martial at Goodison Park and hammered home the winner on the night with his 700th club career goal. CR7 will be looking to add to his tally on Thursday, having missed a few gilt-edged chances in Cyprus last week.
Raphael Varane also came on to good effect at Goodison Park, winning some important headers in the face on intense last pressure from the home side. Varane will be available for selection after recovering from his injury that forced him off in the Manchester derby.
However, it is unlikely Varane will be risked on Thursday night, with Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez expected to start at centre-half.
Luke Shaw impressed against Everton and Ten Hag has a dilemma between him and Tyrell Malacia at left-back.
Marcus Rashford will be hoping for a start after turning the reverse fixture on its head with a fine display, after being introduced at half time.
Ten Hag is expected to continue with his trusted 4-2-3-1 formation and will be hoping for a much more straightforward night this time around, as United look to take another step towards qualification in this year’s competition.
