Manchester United right back Diogo Dalot reportedly wants to stay at the club despite interest from FC Barcelona.
Samuel Luckhurst (Manchester Evening News) states that the Catalan giants have shortlisted Dalot as a possible option next year when his contract runs out.
United do have an option to extend his contract, and the player himself is keen on staying.
In an earlier interview, Dalot spoke about how he could be part of a squad that makes United great again.
“We have a chance to be remembered as the players that brought Man United back.”
After not being first-choice under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Dalot has now cemented his place in the team.
The 23 year old is clearly motivated to develop under Erik ten Hag.
Dalot has improved a lot this season and is showing that he is willing to put the hard work in.
His performances have attracted the likes of Juventus, Atletico Madrid and AS Roma.
Ten Hag has favoured him over Aaron Wan Bissaka this season, and the Portuguese has repaid the manager’s faith by producing brilliant performances.
United should be looking to tie Dalot down on a long-term contract, as he has the potential to be one of the best right backs across Europe.
His technical ability and physicality make him a unique full back option for Ten Hag’s dynamic system.
