Manchester United are reportedly working on bringing in transfer and recruitment expert Christopher Vivell to help the club in the ongoing summer window.
The current window is Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS’ first at the club since they completed a 27.7% partial investment in February.
On multiple occasions, Ratcliffe has emphasised his desire to implement a “best-in-class” football structure to correct the errors of the past and lead the club into the new era, which will hopefully be marked by a return to glory and winning plenty of silverware.
Already, United secured the services of Omar Berrada as the next CEO and Richard Arnold’s long-term successor. Berrada is poised to start work at Old Trafford later this month.
The Red Devils also appointed Jason Wilcox from Southampton as their new technical director.
In the past few hours, United confirmed that Dan Ashworth has joined the club from Premier League rivals Newcastle after months of haggling and talks between the two sides.
According to Ornstein, United have now set their sights on Vivell.
The Athletic journalist reveals, “Manchester United are working to appoint Christopher Vivell on an initial short-term basis to help with the summer transfer window.”
“It is the latest step being taken by the Old Trafford club to build out their sporting structure under new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.”
“Previously employed by RB Leipzig and most recently Chelsea, Vivell will lend expertise around talent ID and player recruitment.”
Ornstein adds, “The 37-year-old German would also bring knowledge of operating in a multi-club model, which is expected be explored by United’s new-look hierarchy going forward.”
Vivell – who left his role as Chelsea’s technical director in July 2023 – will report to Berrada.
