I think the very least Thomas Tuchel has done during his Chelsea reign so far is deserve the chance for Chelsea fans to trust him with transfers this summer, no matter what we might think of some of the named targets.
Of course, like you, I am just a fan of Chelsea, a lifelong fan. So as fans, I believe we are very much entitled to voice our opinions etc and if we disagree with a player we are linked with, then I think it’s natural for us to say just that. However, I will always back my views with ‘but I am just backing Tuchel this window’, because he deserves that.
The man literally stayed through a turmoil couple of months with sanctions and the takeover, but he stayed smiling and he stayed as the unofficial club spokesperson when everyone else was hiding, whether he wanted to or not.
Not only that, he has proven to be a world-class all-round manager for us, and I think we owe it to him this window at least, to just back his decisions.
So, if he wants to sign Anthony Gordon from Everton for £50m, as crazy as that sounds to you and I, for me personally, I will just be backing and supporting his decisions and targets, and then at the end of the season I can look back and make my real judgements.
If he REALLY wants Gordon, then give him Gordon, I’m all for it if Tuchel is all for it. He’s the highly qualified coach, I am just a blogger and a fan.
And just look how his targets have all vastly improved our team so far as well, which also makes me happier to back him. Give the boss what he needs.
