I’m writing this off the back of seeing rumours regarding AC Milan being keen to sign Armando Broja and some mad claims that talks have even happened.
This is complete speculation by the way and I’d put my house on the fact that no talks have started, with any other club. Broja is a Chelsea boy through and through, and he has just signed a new long-term contract with us. His desire is absolutely to make it at Chelsea, and he is not about to give up on that after just six matches under a new manager. Ignore any rumours on the contrary.
Graham Potter clearly rates and trusts Broja, he uses him every game. And Broja will certainly appreciate that. But what needs to happen now and what Broja has fully earned in my opinion, is for him to be starting matches for Chelsea as the next step.
He’s done more than enough to earn a start under Potter in my opinion, and I believe that he must be handed one now to prove that players will be picked on merit and not just on their name. Broja for me has been our best overall attacker in recent games and on current form, he deserves a start.
But I don’t think for one minute that he is getting annoyed or discontent with not starting at this stage of the season. However, I do feel that he will feel aggrieved if he continues to play well when given the chance, and still doesn’t get a start.
That might be a different story. So, Potter needs to use him wisely now and make that next step, by rewarding him with a starting spot in the team and even a run of starts. I have no doubt Broja will take those chances, he’s been excellent so far this season with the small chances he has had.
Time to use him.
