Barcelona forward and Manchester United target Ansu Fati has communicated to the club and to his representatives his wish to remain at Camp Nou.
Fati has been linked to United on a number of occasions.
Last month, the player’s father, Bori Fati, fuelled the flames when he publicly declared that he wishes to take his son out of Barcelona and facilitate a transfer to another club.
Bori Fati cited the Barca academy graduate’s failure to nail down a starting berth under Xavi as the major reason for his dissatisfaction.
However, as per Mundo Deportivo, Fati is focusing all his energy on succeeding in a Blaugrana shirt and is not paying much attention to transfer speculation.
Mundo Deportivo points out, “Ansu Fati is clear that his main objective is to succeed at FC Barcelona and he only thinks about continuing to wear the ’10’ Barça shirt for many years.”
“This has been transmitted by both the footballer and his father to his agent, Jorge Mendes, who, after receiving the green light from Barça, presented the footballer with the interest of several greats in Europe such as Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Tottenham.”
“Xavi has told him [Fati] that he must be patient and that he is counting on him, and Ansu is aware that other club legends such as the Culé coach himself or Andrés Iniesta did not reach their maximum potential until a more advanced age.”
Xavi recently confirmed that he held clear-the-air talks with Fati that were extremely productive.
The Barcelona boss made it known that he does not care about Mendes’ pursuits or comments made by the player’s father. He only pays attention to Fati’s state of mind and the progress made on the pitch by the young star.
Mundo Deportivo further added on the heavy interest in the 20-year-old, “Mendes has been in charge of analyzing the market options that Ansu has, which are several.
“After collecting the positions of several large clubs on the European scene, such as the aforementioned United, Bayern and Tottenham, met with the player and his entourage to give them a good account of the result of the exploration and the intentions of the clubs in question.”
Fati welcomed admiration from the likes of United but told his agent to tell parties keen on his services that a transfer at the moment is not on the cards.
