Darren Fletcher’s twin sons are part of an international struggle between England and Scotland.
As reported in The Sun, the neighbouring countries are trying to persuade the twins, Jack and Tyler, to represent them internationally.
The boys, 15, have been selected for Scotland after impressing at their club side, Manchester City.
However, it’s believed that England have asked the pair to train with them in a bid to lure the twins to play for their birth land, north of the border.
Jack and Tyler both follow in their father’s footsteps by playing in the middle of the park but have a decision to make whether they do likewise in representing Scotland.
Dad, Darren, proudly represented the tartan army 80 times during his career, captaining the side on 34 occasions.
Fletcher remains third on the all-time list of appearance makers for Scotland, behind Sir Kenny Dalglish and ex-United keeper Jim Leighton.
Scotland appears to be in the driving seat, having picked the duo at under 16 level, but, as with all nations, you can change allegiance until the point of having a full international cap.
With the twins likely to follow their Dad onto the international scene, could they jump to the other side of Manchester at club level and represent United, where Fletcher is currently Director of Football.
Fletcher joined United as a teenager and spent twenty years at the club, racking up almost 350 games.
The midfield man enjoyed a wonderful career, winning five Premier League titles and a Champions League medal in 2008.
It remains to be seen what’s in store for the Fletcher twins but with decisions like this on their doorstep; they seem to be on their way to a promising career in the game,
